State Route 88 (SR 88), also known as the Carson Pass Highway, is a California State Highway that travels in an east–west direction, from Stockton, crossing the Sierra Nevada at Carson Pass, and ending at the border with Nevada, whereupon it becomes Nevada State Route 88, eventually terminating at U.S. Route 395. Meiss Meadow SNO-PARK, located on the north side of Highway 88 near Carson Pass, provides access for cross-country skiing, dog sledding, and snow play.
Carson Pass SNO-PARK, located on the south side of Highway 88 at Carson Pass, provides access for cross-country skiing, dog sledding, and snow play (no snowmobiles).
Hope Valley SNO-PARK, located on the south side of Highway 88 at Blue Lakes Road, provides access for cross country skiing, dog sledding, and snowmobiling.
A moderate hike (approximately 2.5 miles from the Carson Pass trailhead) brings you to scenic Lake Winnemucca. We saw many families, dogs, and recreational fishermen on the day we hiked to the lake.
